Sara Harrison

Sara Harrison is a Microscopist  at RTI International. In this capacity, she analyzes a wide variety of sample matrices using optical and electron microscopes supporting a diverse clientele.

Ms. Harrison provides analytical expertise and technical support to proficiency testing programs for laboratories performing asbestos analysis by polarized light microscopy (PLM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and phase contrast microscopy (PCM), including the National Institute of Standard and Technology’s (NIST’s) National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program (NVLAP), the American Industrial Hygiene Association’s (AIHA’s) Bulk Asbestos Proficiency Analytical Testing program (BAPAT), Industrial Hygiene Proficiency Analytical Program (IHPAT) and the Asbestos Analyst’s Registry Program (AAT).

Ms. Harrison is the project manager for NVLAP’s airborne asbestos proficiency testing program and RTI’s asbestos calibration standards project. She is NIOSH 582 certified and has extensive experience characterizing a wide variety of materials using scanning electron microscopy (SEM).
